I loved this poetry book for many reasons. First, I absolutely loved that this book is compiled of different authors, specifically children from different elementary schools. Each poem is written by a different child with an accompanying colorful illustration. The poem also display’s the author’s name and grade which I liked because readers are able to see the grade level the child is in and possibly relate to that child’s age and/or experiences.
Next, I loved that this book uses poems that the children wrote about themselves. Each poem consists of written words and art about how that child perceives themselves and the world around them. This is good for readers because it broadens perspective in that it is good to read about show more others’ cultures. Additionally, readers can see how others express themselves and that it is a good thing.
The main idea of this book is to include poems from a variety of children of different sex, age, culture, etc. This is a great message to give readers because it is a poetic expression of one’s experiences. I loved this because I believe it is important to be aware of lifestyles other than one’s own.
