Wow, It's getting to the point where I can tell how much I liked a book by how fast I read it. Hence why this one got 2 stars. The one saving grace it had was the insider football, what it takes to be an owner gimmick, and I'm sure, even that was short changed. Half of the references in this book were already dated, or would be in a few short years. I also don't know why Lupica felt that every character needed some kind of crazy name with some kind of crazy explanation as to why said characters parents gave them said crazy name. One or two could be funny, or witty, but it got old pretty darn quick.
I guess this book is geared toward 18 males, and it certainly plays that way, but this 18 male found it lacking in way to many categories to show more make it a worth while read. show less

Money, greed, paparazzi, family, friends, and lovers, these are all the problems Jack Molloy, the former Las Vegas Jammer faces as he inherits the best team in the NFL. The New york Hawks. Jack inherited the team from his father Big Tim Molloy, but can the Jammer get himself out of this jam or will his old Vegas life come back and ruin it all,and get his half of the team sold to the biggest Dot com in the world?
There is a man named Jack Molloy, who was known as the Jammer in Las Vegas who would get people out of jams, if the client wanted a girl,or anything else he would arrange it with no problems if you don't want your wife to find out the jammer will figure out a way to not get you caught, and if you do get caught the Jack won’t show more recall what you said he did for you. Jack’s father big Tim Molloy dies and leaves jack his brother and sister(Kenny and Babs, or as Jack calls them the evil twins.) As the weeks go by with jack owning the managing half of the team he has to deal with, greedy players greedy women, annoying family members and other team owners, and very sneaky paparazzi. All of these problems can end Jacks position as manager of the team and money management for the players. The story line of Bump & Run is like but not nearly as negative as the book Pursuit of Happyness where the only true happiness is towards the end of the story. Also Bump & Run is like the book Airman where there are so many factors that make it look like the protagonist will lose to the antagonist but the protagonist comes up with a well thought plan to beat the antagonist.
Bump & Run is another fantastic book from Mike Lupica. I personally love this book for its strong story from beginning to end . I love this book because all of the characters show very good voice and they all show their attitudes and emotions. Also the summary of Jack’s life in Vegas is well written and you can hear the people, the lights, and the excitement of what is known as Las Vegas. Another fantastic and well done part of the story is the drama, Mike Lupica accurately shows the drama in the entire story. Mike Lupica has accurately shown the emotions of the characters and the drama between the players, coaches, and the paparazzi, he also is able to make your mind into a movie theater and show s the looks and personalities of each character. I would personally rate this book a five out of five stars even though it has very minor issues in parts of the story but the solid storyline and voice of the characters make me want to rate this a five out of five. The only bad parts of the book is that there are some parts of it that it gets a little difficult with picturing some scenes but overall I recommend this book to any young adult or high school student for a challenge. show less

Gritty tale about the business of football. Somewhat predictable but still a fun vacation read.
I can't remember when I read it so I just put a date down. It was funny, though.
