Carolyn Keene never fails to deliver an excellent mystery novel in her series of Nancy Drew, super sleuth. I really like how all of her novels follow the same pattern, one would think this could be boring, however, it is satisfying to the reader to know or be able to guess at the events of the novel.
Nancy Drew remains, as always, a terrific protagonist. Her friends, Bess and George, are terrific "sidekicks" with well-developed personalities. I never fail to enjoy these novels, keep producing them!
Nancy Drew, A Race Against Time is about when Nancy Drew has to help her team when a bike race and also find a thief on her way. The thief stole the money for charity that the bike race was supposed to be raising. Nancy has to go and catch the thief, solve the crime, and get all the money back for charity. She has to do this all at the same time as she has to be the captain of her team and train them to win the race. Nancy knows for sure that she can solve this case and win the race, even though she only has two days to do it. There are no clues to the mystery and Nancy has very little time. She is truly in a race against time.
I thought this book was very interesting and I enjoyed reading it very much. I loved reading about all the show more mystery and crime that happened. I enjoyed reading and trying to solve the mystery my self. I can't wait to read another Nancy Drew book. show less
This is a really good book, my favourite part is when Nancy is in the boat while the police was driving it and she shoved the missing money in her paniers, and stuck a lot of newspapres in the guys paniers so that he would still think that there was money inside of it. plus she had to sleep in the little closet. that is when ui sort of felt bad for her. her being all crunched up. just to find missing money for charity. i know that there is better things a teen could be doing instead of the right thing.
this wonderful book is about nancy drew and her friends bess and george and her boyfriend ned racing. it is a big bike race that the town does every year so that they could raise enough money for charity. when charlie found neds car in the show more river he was wondering what had happened. but here is the real scoop. Ned was practicing for the race the next morning so he put his emergency brake up right out of town so that his car wouldnt drive away. but then these two twins who were working for Dierdre. so they were just trying to pull a practical prank on him but then somthing else really happened. someone stole the moneey for the charity. there was the money in the safe and the police officer and his brother stole all the money and stuck it in the fishing boat. then nancy found it and stuck her self in a cabi type thing for a little bit. then she found her way out of the fishing boat and ran then she heard footsteps so she ran into the closest thing she could find. which was a shed but it was full of snakes. the she rode back to the town and turned in the money, uyet still gave all the money to dierdre. show less

"Kitty kastade en blick ut genom sidorutan i bilen. Hon fick nästan en chock när hon såg den eldröda himlen ovanför trädtopparna.
- Titta, Ned! Det brinner. Det verkar vara borta vid Grimsby Herrgård.
- Vi måste köra dit och se om vi kan göra någonting, sa Ned med spänd röst.
När de kom fram såg de att det var stallet som brann, och det var nästan övertänt …"

Carolyn Keene was the pseudonym that Mildred Wirt Benson and Walter Karig used to write Nancy Drew books. The idea of Nancy Drew came from Edward Stratemeyer in 1929. He also had other series, that included the Hardy Boys, but he died in 1930 before the Nancy Drew series became famous. His daughters, Harriet and Edna, inherited his company and show more maintained Nancy Drew having Mildred Wirt Benson, the original Carolyn Keene, as the principal ghostwriter. During the Depression, they asked Benson to take a pay cut and she refused, which is when Karig wrote the books. Karig's Nancy Drew books were Nancy's Mysterious Letter, The Sign of the Twisted Candles, and Password to Larkspur Lane. He was fired from writing more books because of his refusal to honor the request that he keep his work as Carolyn Keene a secret. He allowed the Library of Congress to learn of his authorship and his name appeared on their catalog cards. Afterwards, they rehired Benson and she wrote until her last Nancy Drew book (#30) was written in 1953, Clue of the Velvet Mask. Harriet and Edna Stratemeyer also contributed to the Nancy Drew series. Edna wrote plot outlines for several of the early books and Harriet, who claimed to be the sole author, had actually outlined and edited nearly all the volumes written by Benson. The Stratemeyer Syndicate had begun to make its writers sign contracts that prohibited them from claiming any credit for their works, but Benson never denied her writing books for the series. After Harriet's death in 1982, Simon and Schuster became the owners of the Stratemeyer Syndicate properties and in 1994, publicly recognized Benson for her work at a Nancy Drew conference at her alma mater, the University of Iowa. Now, Nancy Drew has several ghostwriters and artists that have contributed to her more recent incarnations. (Bowker Author Biography) show less
