Joe and Marge have to save Husaquahr again from the schemes of the Dark Baron and the forces of Hell. This time, they are using Earth to help them attack the Riverworld.
Chalker's world is still unique and there's always different down the river, but each of these books gets a little stranger. This one, by taking them back to Earth for at least part of it, was a good change.
Joe and Marge defend the magical realm of Husaquahr from the exiled Dark Baron. The Baron uses Earthly computer technology to create superior spells and teams up with the forces of Hell, requiring Joe, Marge, and wizard Ruddygore to intervene.

The Dark Baron, previously stripped of power and exiled to Earth, leverages technology to create a new magitek system, merging computer programming with magic to gain power.
The Baron returns with demonic forces to threaten the balance of Husaquahr.
