Mallory Pike slung her arm over the side of the couch let her head fall onto it and sighed. From there she flopped on her back and covered her face with her hands. I was sitting on the floor with her youngest sister five year old Claire cutting strips of red construction paper so we could make paper Christmas tree chains.
