An anthology of short stories. The first five involve a mysterious store that sells "plant dolls" - living dolls that must be fed milk thrice a day and a sugar cookie once a week. Each of those follows the experiences of one doll, or the customer. Mildly creepy, mostly in a good way.

The last two stories do not appear to be connected to the first five, and are less compelling. That may be an effect of the translation; the last two tales are thoroughly Japanese.
