"Hermit Crab was growing too big for the house on his back." Thus begins a search for a new home, but every option is "too" something - too heavy, too noisy, too crowded, too full of holes. When a wave sweeps Hermit Crab back into the ocean, he hides behind a sea snail....whose shell turns out to be empty, and just the right size!

Good for a preschool or kindergarten storytime; kids can make the "scritch-scratch, scritc-scratch" sound effect of Hermit Crab stepping along the sand.

Back matter includes more about hermit crabs and further resources.

This was a cute book I read as a kid about a hermit crab in need of a new shell. Pretty child-friendly/appropriate from what I rememeber.
A realistic-fiction book for lower elementary readers. A growing hermit crab needs a new home, he has become too big for his shell. His adventure begins as he scuttles along and tries out all different things, like a rock, tin can and bucket, to see if they would make a suitable home. Before he finds his home, which is also his protection, a large fish wants to make dinner out of him! Will he find his home on time?!....Children will love learning about hermit crabs in this beautifully illustrated book about a hermit crab's adventure in finding a new home.
A cute children's book. Hermit Crab looks for a new house - the rock is too heavy, the driftwood is too work. At the end he finds a house that is just right.
Having outgrown his brown-spotted shell, Hermit Crab sets out on a hunt for a new house, finding a haven just in time to avoid a hungry pricklepine fish
This book is about the adventure of a hermit crab trying to find a home for himself so that he is safe from the Pricklepine fish. He tried numerous different types of home such as a tin can and a fishing net but they don't work out. Finally he finds his home within an on vacant snail shell that fits him just right.
