A humorous girl power story. My youngest 2 children....13 and 7 yr old girls......really enjoy this book. My oldest 2 daughters....24 and 22.....find this book hilarious. Yep, every female in our household appreciates the come-up-ance dished out in this one! The illustrations are well done....and pirates....and a little girl triumphing over a boatful of mean spirited men....and pirates....what's not to love??!!
Funny that a girl captured by a fearsome group of male pirates and put to work, turns out to be none other than the daughter of a more fearsome group of female pirates who overtake that very group of male pirates and put them to work. Good if you liked the other two Cornelia Funke/Kerstin Meyer books.
While sailing to her grandmother's, a young girl is kidnapped by pirates and forced to work for them. SPOILER: When her mother's pirate crew shows up to rescue her, the men are forced to do the same sort of work for the women pirates. I'm not clear on what the point is.
Pirate Girl is captured by bad pirates then her mom a more fearsome pirate rescues her then she goes to visit her grandma. The illustrations are very funny.
Ha ha ha! Loved the feisty little pirate girl and her take-some-prisoners mama.

27 months - a cute story. Nice to see a girl pirate for a change, now that's something my little girl can relate to. ARG!
