More enjoyable than the movie, in some ways. I went in knowing this was based on the script--anyone who complains that this is a 'retelling of the movie' or, 'OMG! It's a COMIC book!' Didn't read the description properly.

It's more like Buffy from the series, but not quite everything Sarah Michelle Geller brought to the character. Feels like a young and naive version from Season 8... Just a hair off.
This graphic novel is said to be a truer version of Joss' script for the Buffy movie than what ended up being made. It is a darker, less comic tale than the film and so much better. People should just let Joss do what he does and not try to make him more "marketable."
Graphic novel that tells the ‘backstory’ of how Buffy came to be the Slayer—the story at her previous school/town before she came to Sunnydale. I hadn’t realized when I wishlisted this at PBS that it was indeed a graphic novel so was a little surprised when I got it, and obviously it was a very quick read. It was entertaining and a good read for what it was, but not something I’ll order more from in the series.
I liked this back story because I've heard that Joss didn't like the way the movie was done so now it's a little more.... his story.
This is a graphic novel version of the movie (sort of)--it uses the tv Buffyverse and the movie story to bring Buffy to Sunnydale right before the series began--make sense?
