This book of retellings of the epic stories from Ancient Greece and Troy is appropriate as a read aloud or when paired with a simpler version for comparison. The legends showcase violence and sexuality in war and the dealings of the gods and goddesses, so it is best to talk about the tales with younger readers. The stories are well written but overall this is a dense book and very episodic. Recommended for ages 13 and up. ( )
