Billy Baggs loves playing baseball but he isn’t allowed to for the fact that there is no time between milking, haying and planting. Billy has to do all the chores of the farm because when he was younger his older brother died and his father gets in trouble. So when his mother suggests building a baseball field in their pasture so he could play and have time for his chores. Billy thought it was worth a try. So his mother printed out flyers and passed them around town so maybe they could have a team. They formed a team and played the Town team.

This book is a great book. I really enjoyed it because I know what it is like to put farm chores before fun. This book is a true contemporary realistic fiction book. This book is a sports type of show more Contemporary Realistic Fiction.

This book could be read to the class during baseball season and use the book to help the students understand that they might not be the only people who have to put other things in front of sports. One might use this book during a history lesson.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read because you don’t have to know a lot about sports to understand this book.
