Battles and Leaders of the Civil War, Volume 2: North to Antietam

The entertainment level is high, and the maps are attractive, and good for their time. This volume II covers the fall of New Orleans to the battle of Antietam, and that of Corinth in the West. It's an anthology and the articles are either written by the participants or ghost written by the Century Magazine's stable.

Have owned this book since the mid 70's. Most recently read the sections on:

Antietam esp Jacob Cox. Found Longstreet's article rather useless.

Seven Day's Fighting esp DH Hill, Wm Franklin and Fitx John Porter x 2

Jackson in Shenandoah Valley section was quite interesting
