There are only a few lines for every two-page spread, so this one is perfect for babies and toddlers.

Even the little ones can join in the game of looking for the blown-away hat in every picture (and since the hat is the goose's final destination you're helping them learn some narrative convention, too!)

However, because this book is really best suited for the smallest children, it may be a good idea to just get the board book version instead. It's the same book, not abridged or anything.

Cute and funny and easy to follow for the little ones. I liked the big overview picture of the grounds in the beginning. Kids may want to go back to that picture after reading the story and follow the silly little goose's trail ...
The goose couldn't find a place to lay her eggs. Everywhere she went was already occupied by another family. She kept searching until she found the perfect spot, the farmer's hat. This is a cute book for children. It was short with big pictures. It has big pictures and letters to focus on. When I looked at the pictues I realized the farmer is on his tractor on the first page and his fat flies off. On every picture the hat is somewhere being carried in the wind. I wonder if little kids would notice it at the beginning, unlike myself.
Nancy Tafuri's books like this one are a great introduction to picture books for toddlers who are used to board books. The illustrations are big and bold, and the text is large and simple with only a few words or one sentence on each page. The best part is that they tell a story! Highly recomended for young toddlers.
My son really like this one, it’s about a goose looking for a place to rest. She tries everyone’s resting place until she finds her own. It’s a book teaching about where animals like to rest.

A goose sets out to make a nest and everywhere she chooses is already occupied by other animals, until finally she finds a big straw hat and lays her eggs there.
No real lesson, fun for a read-aloud story.
An easy read for kinder, it can introduce setting and sequencing. A story starting in one place, and then another, and another. Following order, from beginning to end.
