When Giovanna's twin brother runs for student council president, Giovanna agrees to be his campaign manager. However, Giovanna's boyfriend Jesse decides to campaign for another candidate so Giovanna impulsively dumps him for his disloyalty, which she soon regrets.
This is a hilarious romantic comedy as Giovanna campaigns for her brother while trying to figure out how to get her ex-boyfriend back.

A light, airy read that will have you laughing out loud until the very end.

When Giovanna's twin brother, Dante, announces he's running for student body president against her boyfriend's friend and popular candidate, Wilson, things between Giovanna and her boyfriend, Jesse, get a little tense. Jesse's great, the best boyfriend a girl could ask for...Until he agrees to support Wilson over Dante, who is also a good friend of his. Both Jesse and Dante say Giovanna's too emotional, and she might agree after she impulsively breaks up with Jesse.
Even though she's campaigning for Dante, she sort of regrets dumping Jesse. Even if he is campaigning for the opposition. Okay, that's a lie--she completely regrets it, and she wants Jesse back, but Giovanna doesn't want to give show more up her pride or her brother's campaign, either. What's a girl to do?
HOW TO TAKE THE EX OUT OF EX-BOYFRIEND is a fantastic book! It's absorbing, entertaining, and moves quickly enough to be read in an afternoon. All of the characters are great, but Giovanna is an awesome and well-developed main character, with a great voice. She's someone I definitely wouldn't mind hearing more from! This is a book that is completely worth reading, and pretty hard to put down, too! show less

Eh. It was a cute, sweet little feel-good teenage read. I don't say that because it's YA, or even because it takes place in High School. There are plenty of YA reads that take place in H.S., yet have interesting themes, dark storylines and the kind of stuff that makes you go, "This is for teenagers? Really?"
But this book is just the sort of bland, the world-always-works out teen fare I suspect I was supposed to read as a teenager. Meh.

What would you do if your boyfriend decided to support the person running against your twin brother for class president? Break up with him, of course! That's exactly what Giovanna does, but as the election heats up she comes to realize that Jesse is the only boy for her. Will she remain loyal to her brother or try to win her boyfriend back? This was a fun, tame read.
This book was not something that I would normaly pick up. But, I saw it at Half Price books and decided to buy it because I remembered Rallisons names from another book that I had read and liked. I read this book and liked it. It was a quick read that did not take but about one day. I hope that other people will pick up the book and read it and Rallisons other books. I will be sure to look up Janette Rallison's other books and take a look at them.

3 out of 5 stars. It's a cute story. Definitely had some unexpected twists that made me want to find out what would happen next, but it wasn't as good as I would have liked it to be. However, I did like the main characters .... especially with all of the antics that Gi got herself into without even trying. =0)

- I bet you CInderella didn't get along with Prince Charming's friends. Oh sure, the knights and barons probably put up with her on account that she was pretty and had such dainty feet and all, but you know every duchess and co... (show all)untess in the kingdom hated her guts. That's how women are when someone encroaches on their turf.
- Last words
- (Click to show. Warning: May contain spoilers.)I was going to prom. And more importantly I was going to prom with Jesse. A voice in my mind that sounded remarkably like Dante's said, "If you ask Gabby to go gown shopping with you, she'll pay for the dress." Which went to show you that our twin bond was working--well, either that or Iwas starting to think like Dante.
I laughed and went inside.
