This is a well-researched, perfectly adequate biography about the personal and political life of Laura Welch Bush. While the text is informative, it is not compelling or interesting to students. Several different groups of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students were visibly bored when read excerpts from this text. While I'm sure Tanya Stone did not intend it to be read aloud, at least not to a large group, it could have been written in a more student-friendly way. My students did enjoy the photographs and did learn some facts about Ms. Bush's life, but I would not recommend this as a read aloud.

After many years as an editor. Tanya moved to Vermont and returned to writing.
