Yeah...no. Way too much coincidence and random stuff. Twin orphans, ok; separated twin orphans, I suppose; psychic separated twin orphans, my suspension of disbelief starts to fray. Then she has a teacher who's a burglar, and no one has a clue but her; his foster parents are in a cult, and again no one has a clue (and he doesn't say anything to his social worker, for months). Pwoing goes the suspension of disbelief. Easy happy ending doesn't help. The concept of the psychic bits didn't bother me, how they were applied to the story did. Cute, but really not for me.
Probably would have been a better read back in 1988, when cults were a headline issue, and when it was easier to suspend disbelief in ESP-y stuff. Still, I very much enjoyed the hour & a half I spent with Faith and Phillip, and Jake and Roxanne (the almost too-good-to-be-true new friends) and Mrs. Thompson, Linda and Cynthia (the caregivers who tried). I did pick up more by the author at this tiny rural library and look forward to reading them.
