Hard-hitting SF action with the superhuman Space Marines and Captain Uriel Ventris. Exiled from his chapter, Uriel ventures deep into the dreaded Eye of Terror to confront the terrible foes that dwell with these worlds of insanity. Chief among them are the ancient Chaos Space Marine Legions – twisted warriors who have allied with the Dark Gods of Chaos and are set on humanity’s destruction. All bets are off as McNeill serves up an uncompromising installment of the Ultramarines series. With dishonor behind him and death ahead, Uriel must gather every ounce of courage if his is to survive and regain his place in the Chapter! A well-written look into the 40K universe. Not just a giant firefight, the plot is nicely developed and the show more characters fleshed out well. The language pants the dirty grim 40K world accurately and the end of the book is rather horrific, in a good way. An excellent 40K novel and sci-fi novel in general. show less
