Originally, the Cherokee lived in the southeastern part of what is now the United States. In the early 1800s, many of the Cherokee were forced from their lands and moved to Indian Territory, present-day Oklahoma. Today, the Cherokee that stayed are known as the Eastern Cherokee and those who moved to Indian Territory are known as Western Cherokee. Readers will enjoy learning about the culture and history of the Cherokee Indians. No library descriptions found. |
