Description
During the reign of the Tang dynasty in China, a secret organization called "The House of the Flying Daggers" rises and opposes the government. Leo is a police officer who sends officer Jin to investigate a young dancer named Mei, claiming that she has ties to the "Flying Daggers" organization. Leo ends up arresting Mei, only to have Jin break her free in a plot to gain her trust and lead the police to the new leader of the secret organization. But things are far more complicated than they seem.Tags

I was really enjoying this movie until the twist of the blind girl was revealed. This movie has a lot of stunning visuals and martial art scenes, but the story was weak in some parts.
Richly photographed, elegantly choreographed, thinly plotted, poignantly romanced and slow.

Het verhaal speelt zich af in het China van de 9de eeuw. De twee soldaten Jin (Takeshi Kaneshiro) en Leo (Andy Lau) krijgen de opdracht om de leider van het "House of Flying Daggers", een revolutionaire groepering, op te sporen. Leo denkt dat Mei (Zhang Ziyi) , een mooie blinde danseres, de dochter van deze leider is. Om haar vertrouwen te winnen gaat Jin undercover. Hij doet zich voor als een sympathisant voor hun zaak. Samen vertrekken ze naar het hoofdkwartier van het "House of Flying Daggers". Wat echter niemand kon voorzien is dat Mei en Jin onderweg verliefd op elkaar worden. Wanneer Jin dan om Mei te beschermen zijn eigen soldaten moet vermoorden en Mei wordt opgedragen Jin te vermoorden, staan ze door hun verdeelde loyaliteiten show more voor een zwaar dilemma.
