I know I read two of Dr. Chopra's earlier books. Don't know for sure if it was this one, but picked this early one here in order to put in my opinion of Dr. Chopra's books. I kept feeling as if I were reading an astrology forecast. There was alot of impressive-sounding words and phrases, but he didn't really say anything. However, he was so vague (I believe deliberately vague) most people could "fit themselves in" and say "Yeah! That's me!!" and come away pretty impressed. I would read whole pages over again and wondered if I was just missing some profound point he was making. There would be one or two main points to each book, usually readily grasped from the title, but the rest seemed a waste of good trees. I've never been a hard-nose show more skeptic. I've always been interested in spirituality, 'the bigger picture," why we're here in this life, what happens after we die, reincarnation, etc, so I don't think it's because I don't agree with him.

Obviously, I know its been about 15 years since I've read him, and maybe his books have changed. I doubt it, but I will read a recent one and add an update to this review if my opinion changes. I know this entire review may sound very hostile to Mr. Chopra, but my primary purpose for writing this is to let people know that if they don't "get it", it's not their fault. On the flip side, I know that there are those who feel they have been genuinely helped and that is truly wonderful.

Deepak Chopra’s The Path to Love: Renewing the Power of Spirit in Your Life explored love from many perspectives. The author used a number of case studies of subjects who had difficulties with some aspects of their married life, to show how to overcome blockages in their relationships. And he included questionnaires as he attempted to guide readers in discovering pertinent qualities applicable for cultivating a more fulfilling love life.
Using analogies from Indian religions of the Vedic scriptures and Upanishads the writer incorporated the mysteries of love not only in the Eastern tradition, but he also examined many of the Christian practices of the Western world. Among the topics Chopra discussed were the ego, surrender, show more sensuality, ecstasy, and compassion as he endeavored to show that in order for love to succeed it has to attain a spiritual dimension. show less
