I liked this but I didn't...
Carlotta has returned to work at Nieman Marcus. ..she is caught up in the midst of the theft of a "Lucky Charm" bracelet. She & her M.I.A. father are profiled by the Hottie Cop's new partner as possible suspects in the murder of three women who were found with charms in their mouths.
Wesley is addicted to "Oxy", working "collection" for the loan shark, but skimming off the top, hacking the courthouse pc files, and playing high stakes poker.
The crazy co-worker, Michael Lane, who attempted to murder Carlotta in the first book has escaped the asylum and is after her again.
She's still seeing Peter, but always has something else come up...and lies her way out of her dates with him....
Carlotta has proof Wesley is show more a druggie and refuses to believe the evidence...instead believing Wesley's lies! I mean come on...she knows he stole her painkillers & both refills, leaving her in pain with a broken arm!
And to top it off...someone is living in the spare "closed off" bedroom unbeknownst to her & her brother!
I like:
*Peter
*Hottie Cop
*The "charm" mystery itself
*Most of the mystery story line
*The "Body Movers" part
I Do NOT Like:
*Carlotta's codependent relationship with her druggie brother & the fact she is so Farking stupid & believes his lies while making excuses for his asinine behavior!
*Carlotta leaving Peter in the middle of a date to go pick-up a body
*Wesley PERIOD!
*Carlotta stringing along Peter while having sex with the Hottie Cop
What really ruins the series for me is Carlotta's Totally co-dependent relationship with her brother. She needs to pull her enabling head out of the darkness and stop rescuing her brother. He needs to take full responsibility for his criminal behavior and spend his justly earned time in jail. show less

Bond, Stephanie Bond that is. She's back with book four in her 'Body Movers' series and "4 Bodies and a Funeral" is just as funny as the previous three. Filled with everything from innuendo to slapstick, the heroine, Carlotta, has to try and figure out which man is the right one for her while dodging murder attempts, suspects, and a brother who's developing some VERY bad habits.
Carlotta is finally back to work and her first day is a doozy. It seems the current Olympic champion credits her charm bracelet with giving her the strength to win the gold and she's making an appearance where Carlotta works! Good news-Carlotta should be able to make some serious commission on all the shoppers packing the store. Bad news-when she tries to prevent show more an attack on the champ, she ends up face-down in a BIG cake. Worst news-the charm bracelet went missing and now there's a wacko serial killer putting charms in the mouths of his victims...and Carlotta and her brother both are considered suspects!
Another fun read to enjoy as you snicker and snort your way through Carlotta's mayhem-filled life. If nothing else, you can always be thankful you're not Carlotta. show less

Your first day back at work after time off for a broken arm shouldn't end facedown in a celebratory sheet cake, but that's par for the course when you're Carlotta Wren. Carlotta's juggling three men, a teenage brother with a gambling problem, a stalker who may be a serial killer, a father who may have been framed, but might be a serial killer... and since her job at Neiman Marcus isn't quite exciting enough, she's moonlighting as a body mover for the coroner's office.
The action is pretty much non-stop, but this Stephanie Plum-wannabe is a bit too frantic and Carlotta isn't nearly as appealing a main character. Maybe it's because I started with the fourth installment. A fast, fluffy read with a cliffhanger ending - but I felt no real show more urgency to run right out and find book five. show less

So far I've really enjoyed reading the books in the Body Movers series. Stephanie Bond writes with a a sense of humor and a tendency toward quirky.
What kept this from being a four star book for me was a single incident that left me feeling dumbfounded over Carlotta's lack of perception or perhaps it is that she is just so self-absorbed? If you're concerned about a friend who you know has feelings for you and is troubled, would you really invite the other two men in your life to meet you at the place where you are meeting this man (simultaneously)? Really, I hope not. And, likewise, I would hope that you wouldn't just ask questions about this person's well-being and not follow-through, especially when this person had previously been a show more good friend to you.
With that said, the mystery portion, although a cliff-hanger in this book, was interesting and well done. I look forward to the other installments and hope that Carlotta's character becomes a bit more evolved. show less

Once I realized that the topic of 4-6 could’ve been a single book and that she doesn’t pick a man until the yet-to-be-released 12th book, I tapped out.
I like this series so much I just bought the next two books. Carlotta once again stumbles and bumbles her way through an investigation. Ignoring the warnings she gets from her friends, she digs in and finds the answers to the murders, but really just wants to find the answers to her personal questions. Will her brother ever grow up? Will her parents ever return? Should she choose, Jack, Coop or Peter?
Carlotta Wren is happy to be back to work and in the middle of a big publicity event for a celebrity's new line of charm bracelets. When the event goes sideways, Carlotta thinks a humiliating photograph of her is the worst thing to come out of it...until bodies start surfacing with charms in their mouths. To make matters worse, a member of the Wren family is connected to every murder. When clues start pointing to her long-lost father as The Charmed Killer, Carlotta starts to reconsider everything she believes...
Several mysteries happening at once, plenty of relationships.
What is not to like with lots going on with Atlanta's Body Movers.
