Poet and children's novelist Ruth Dallas born in Invercargill, New Zealand. She worked as an editorial assistant to Charles Brasch from 1962 to 1966. She has published eight volumes of poetry. Dallas had an interest in Asian poetry, particularly the haiku. Dallas lost an eye in an accident while still a teenager, and the brevity of the haiku show more allowed her to work easily without writing when her vision began to fail. In addition to her poetry, Dallas has written seven children's novels. (Bowker Author Biography) show less
