Someone has stolen nearly a thousand dollars from the Garbage Busters, an environmental group that employs Stevie's mother. Worst of all, they've stolen it right from her house! The Diamond & Kulniki Detective Agency must get right to work. Unfortunately, all of their super sleuthing leads Stevie and her partner Jesse right to their apartment building's garbage bin. Will they ever be able to get through the banana peels, ketchup packs, and rotten, smelly trash to solve the crime?
Stephanie’s Dad is away working on his Masters degree in biology. If this wasn’t bad enough, they just moved into a co-op in Vancouver and her Mom was getting way too chummy with their neighbor Jonathon, who had even joined Garbage Buster’s, Mom’s environmental group. When two thousands dollars disappears from the Diamond home, Stevie starts adding up the late night phone calls, the garbage pushed through their mail slot and decides it’s time to change her name to Stevie (has a more detective like ring to it) and start solving the crime. With help from her partner they may be on the right track. Wider spacing between the text lines could prevent possible frustration for the young reader, but overall, a cute, bouncy, show more entertaining mystery.
