In this classic romantic novel, Madelaine is a loving, but overworked single mom. She is constantly at odds with her confused and angry daughter. Lina, a teenage rebel desperate to find the father she has never know. Powerful, thought-provoking and emotionally complex.
I must admit I was not very impressed with Home Again. Kristin Hannah is the queen of real-life, emotional narratives and convincing characters, but she let me down with this story. For the first time ever I didn't need a single tissue.
Lina, your typical troubled teen, struggles to discover where she fits while vying for the attention of her neurotic mom, Madeline. Madeline is a cardiologist who raised Lina on her own while putting herself through medical school.
Being a single mother myself I found it difficult, if not impossible, to believe that anyone can "study and do homework for hours every night with a toddler on your knee", especially when you're talking med school. Fortunately this was not my first Kristin Hannah novel and I show more know she is capable of so much more. show less

Everytime I pick up one of her books, I am reminded why I enjoy them. Fantastic characters and storyline. I laugh and cry theou them.
Home Again was no different! My heart ached reading about the mother/daughter struggles and the struggles of the heart.

Super predictable, but still really good and managed to be a tear jerker anyway.
When movie star Angel DeMarco suffers his first heart attack on location near Seattle, his survival depends on a heart transplant. He's medevac-ed to a local hospital famed for its cardiology unit and placed under the care of Dr. Madelaine Hillyard?the pregnant girlfriend he'd abandoned 17 years earlier. Facing death, he's forced to come to terms with his misspent life and attempt to make things right with Madelaine; his saintly priest brother, Francis; and his rebellious teenaged daughter.
Even though Kristin Hannah is my favorite author I did not feel that this was one of her better books.

Somewhat predictable story of a bad boy who has to face his past--including the girl he impregnated as a teenager. It kept me reading, because there were some confrontations I was looking forward to seeing, but it's not one I'll need to read again.
Flat characters and a twist I predicted. I sped read through the final third of the book just to say I finished it. I also let it keep the second star because I liked Francis, even if every other character was really annoying.
