This is a really really good toddler storytime book; the text is short and simple; the gorgeous illustrations are large format and engaging; there's sound-effects for an interesting storytelling experience. Daisy the Duck loses track of her mother as she's exploring all the interesting things in the pond. When she realizes she's alone, Daisy is suddenly drawn on a very small scale and everything looms in a somewhat menacing fashion. Shortly her mom is there saying, "come along, Daisy." So cute and reassuring. Lovely book.
This is a cute book for young children. A distractible duckling explores the pond while her mother reminds her, "Come along Daisy!" With great sound effects and descriptive language, this story is very engaging and sweet. This book could mentor students on how to incorporate sound into their writing.
Little Duck Daisy doesn't listen very well when Mama book tells her to stay close. A good cautionary tale about staying near your trusted grownups. Perhaps a good story to tell before going on a field trip? Also a fun example of a story with a build up of suspense before the welcome relief of a satisfying conclusion. I really appreciate how Jane Simmons reaffirms that Daisy has learned her lesson and s now going to do what her mother has cautioned her to do.
Perfect read-aloud for preschoolers. Daisy is as cute as a button and young children just love her and her independence. When Daisy is lost in the big, big pond and something moves beneath her and swoops above her, youngsters are riveted to the pages, hoping that Daisy will be alright. Which, of course (*spoiler alert) she is.

Daisy's mother warns her to stay close, but there are so many distractions in the pond! After all, there are fireflies to chase and lily pads to jump on. A sudden, scary noise teaches Daisy to heed her mother's words.
This is a simple story. By 24 months, We've red too many stories like this too get excited about it. I'm sure that if we read it six months ago, she would have been captivated.
This book is about how a duckling loses her mother while she is goofing off and playing with the dragonflies. This book could be read to a class before they go on a fieldtrip reminding the students how important it is to stay together and pay attention.
