Description

Giovanni Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto (1697-1768), is recognized as the emblematic figure of the genre of veduta , the most admired Venetian artistic creation of the eighteenth century in Europe. The inaugural exhibition of the Hotel de Caumont intends to shed new light on the whole of Canaletto's work , with a particular interest in the treatment of light in the painting of the Venetian master. About fifty paintings and drawings from public and private international collections will show more present the figure of Canaletto and the different phases of his artistic career, in Rome, London and Venice.--Gallery website. show less
