Come Over, Come Over

Description
"Barry deftly portrays the capricious nature of teen friendships, adolescent peer-pressure, and the kill or be killed nature of a middle school's social scene in her signature style. In an authentic teen voice full of diffidence and melodrama, the bespectacled and freckled Maybonne relates all of life's indignities on equal measure. Heartbreaking stories of a broken home, child molestation, an alcoholic absentee father and a bitter mom emerge between strips about home ec class, summer show more vacation, and babysitting, illustrating Barry's peerless ability to make the reader both cry and laugh."-- show lessTags

Always love Lynda Barry, though I’m not sure I loved this one as much. Maybe it’s me getting older. Great cartoons about being middle-school age and dealing with the cruelties of the everyday life that is inflicted on children esp not in wealthy families. Of course, very dated, these cartoons were drawn in the 80s and I suspect reflect experiences from the early 70s.
In a nutshell, kind of boring.
