Collard's book presents us with an overview of animals and other life forms that live at great depths in the ocean. He introduces us to many different types of sea life and discusses how they survive at these great depths. A new term he introduces the reader to (brand new to this reader) is chemosynthesis. It explains how plant life can make food for itself without the sunlight that would be needed for photosynthesis. I found this book gave a lot of good information, but it never seemed to pull me in.
