Description

Georgia Skeehan is a rookie in the fire department, but she suspects the recent fire that melted the steel framework of a Manhattan building, killing the fifty people inside, was caused by "a kitchen-sink concoction with the thermal power of rocket fuel." Her investigation is stymied on all sides but strongly affected by eerie letters from "The Fourth Angel."--Jacket.

This book is a hard book for me to review. On the one hand, I really, really, really liked the Fire Investigation parts. They were interesting, and they were suspenseful. I never knew which way it was going to go for the plot for sure.

But, then, there was all the angst. It just seemed so overwrought in some places. Perhaps it's because it was written at the beginning of the 2000s too? I'm not sure.

It was a crazy story, with really hot fires (literally hotter than almost anything should ever be able to burn), and lots of plots lines that kept me guessing which one was going to stick as the plot line that tied to the actual fires.

Not sure if I'll re-read the other two in the series. I probably will, because I feel like I should and review show more them as well, but, they're not currently on the top of my re-read pile. show less
