Love this one, and so do the younger students. Kids who understand that Bear is never going to be able to lose his shadow enjoy all the silly things that he does, but I've found that even the youngest kids, who don't yet know about light and shadows, enjoy Bear's truce with his shadow.
This is a delightful book about Bear and his quest to escape his shadow. Asch's colorful illustrations and simple, appealing plot are winners with very young children.
One sunny day Bear decides to go fishing, but his shadow keeps scaring the fish away, time and time again. Bear tries everything he can think of to get rid of this pesky nuisance. And at last he succeeds--or so he thinks!
Bear is trying to get rid of his shadow and nothing he does seems to work. Children will love seeing all of the silly things he does to try to keep Shadow away, and teachers will like the clear scientific explanation (and visual) for why Shadow keeps popping up. Good for preschool.
My mom used to read this to me when I was little. When I'm having a bad day and missing my mom I pull this out and it always seems to calm me down. It's a great childrens book.
This book would be good for kindergarten because it is very simple and teaches what a shadow is. The bear is out fishing and looses his fish and on the way home discovers that there is something following him. He tries to nail it down, burry it and more and can't. Good lesson book.
This story is about Bear and his shadow. Bear is fishing but his shadow scares the fish away. So Bear gets upset and spends all morning trying to get rid of his shadow. Then around noon his shadow has finally left. He is tired and takes a nap. When he wakes up a couple of hours later his shadow is back. Bear wants to go fishing again so he makes a deal with the shadow. The deal is if the shadow lets him catch a fish then he will let the shadow catch a fish also. They catch a fish at the same time.
