Henry and Mudge is a cute series but I was a little bored with the writing. I can see kids liking the castle idea but better word play would have been appreciated.
I have a lot of respect for Henry's mom. In some ways I want to be her, with a big porch & yard & trees, and long dresses and bare feet - but I don't want a huge slobbery dog, thank you.
A boy and his dog, Mudge, face a boring, wet weekend, without an idea of what to do to pass the time. The boredom spreads to the dad, until the mom has the idea of building a castle from two big shipping boxes. The whole family gets involved, including Mudge, The whole weekend passes in a flurry until finally it is finished and they bring mom down to the basement to thrill her with the results. They find a wet weekend is more fun than anything, with just a bit of creativity.
Henry and Mudge are bored over a long, rainy weekend. Henry's mom suggests they build a castle out of the boxes their new refrigerator and stove came in. They have a lot of fun and build a great castle.

Henry thinks it will be a very boring weekend because it’s yucky outside and it is- until his mother comes up with a plan. She suggests they make a castle out of a refrigerator box, and they do- for a great weekend.
A wet weekend is transformed by a family project.
