It is highly unlikely you will ever again see Jacob and his household is vague, Dusty characters wandering about in the book of Genesis. Lois Erickson has, through the week eyes of Leah, skillfully depicted powerful, God-fearing Jacob and his single-minded love for beautiful Rachel. We grieve for the older sister as she discovers that the bearing of sons cannot bring about her fondest dream. This plane, splendid woman, however, teaches us that there is a beauty and integrity exceeding that of a fair face.We find them all, in the end, so very like ourselves, filled with tender loves, ugly jealousies, wavering loyalties, and the ponderings for an assurance of God's acceptance. This fascinating saga will bring you on a renewed awareness that show more while settings and cultures change, people don't. I struggle with sorrow and sin remains constant, and our mutual hope lies only in the One who knows our individual pain and offers healing. show less
