There is only one person who can get Buddy to do anything and that is the little boy in this story. Dad will tell him to sit and Buddy will stand and bark. Mom tells him to get the newspaper and instead Buddy rips it to pieces. The little boy's brother tells him to roll over and Buddy runs away with his shoe. In the end, Buddy runs away and it is only the little boy who can get him to come back home!
This story is a level 1 beginning reader book and it is very simple and easy to follow. There are great illustrations in the book with lots of places to see Buddy taking part in something silly. I think children will like this book because it shows them the confidence of this little boy who is the only one Buddy will listen to.
This book show more could be a great addition for children to read to reinforce sight words. It is made up of simple sentences with beginning words that children will be able to recognize. You could also ask children to add on to this story on their own, with words or pictures. show less

Only the little boy in this story knows how to get Buddy to do what he should–with hugs and cuddles and lots of love! Beginning Reader, Level 1.
The computer says this is a level two book, but it is level one. It should be used beginner readers so K-1st grade. It is about a dog named Buddy who only listens to the youngest boy in the house. Students can create their own ending to the story.
The storyline is easy to comprehend because of the textual delivery. The illustrations are visually appealing and the story has continuity.
