What an odd little story. Short enough for 8 year-olds to gobble up, almost simple and innocent enough for them, too. The main character is 15 (? or nearly so) but acts more like she's barely 13. Still, it's fun, and if you like modern 'fractured' fairy tales, it's worth checking out from the library.
When a boy she's long had a crush on kisses her, Chandler turns into a frog. Surprisingly, the boy doesn't desert her and works hard to help change her back, despite the fact that she's pretty nasty as a frog. Afterwards, she works hard to get her life in order and makes another sort of transformation. What I didn't like was the lack of explanation for why she turned into a frog.
