I really enjoyed this trickster tale about a silly goose who runs into a fox. Fox convinces Goose that she has lost her ears. She runs around and tries to find some by borrowing another animal's ears. None of those will work but then she hears a peacock (?) who is selling ears. But it is no peacock she is dealing with! Her friends realize what is going on and go to save her but she realizes what is going on before they get there. She does need their help, but all ends well for the Silly Goose. This would be a great read aloud. It is humorous as well as suspenseful and the bright but soft illustrations are simply delightful!
SILLY GOOSE reminds me a lot of the Chicken Little story about the sky falling. Goose thinks she has no ears and falls prey to the trickery of Fox.
I bought the book because I was taken with the beauty and charm of the pictures, and read it after I got it home. It is delightful and simple, yet definitely puts a good message out. I recommend it to younger children as well as anyone who loves to indulge in wonderful, fanciful stories for little ones. Everyone can enjoy this book. I really like it.

Personal Response: I actually found Silly Goose to be very funny, especially when she suddenly notices that she can hear, even though the Fox says she has lost her ears.
Curricular Connection: In a preschool classroom with four year olds, students can identify how the fox tricked the goose and why the fox wanted to trick the goose. Students can also identify how the Goose's friends saved her.

This was a cute and colorful book for young children. It would be a good quick read aloud to children where the educator can cover the concept of trickery.
The kids loved this cautionary tale about a tricky fox (or is he a peacock?) and a silly goose. The illustrations are bright and colorful.
