Reluctantly accepting help to refurbish a recently inherited Georgia family home after losing her junior lobbyist job, Dempsey Jo Killebrew is quickly overwhelmed by the enormity of the task, which is further hampered by a cantankerous squatter.

This story moved at a good pace with a mix of Dempsey’s difficulties with the FBI regarding bribery accusations from her old boss and the colorful characters in the small southern town where she works on the old family home. There was a bit of a family secret, a bit of excitement helping the FBI and a bit of romance. It was a fun and lively read. ( )

For the length of the book (about 430 pages), it seemed to end rather abruptly, although satisfactorily. ( )

I normally love Mary Kay Andrews. This one was just not up to her typical writing style and seem to drag on a lot more than normal for her. There were times that I just wanted to say get on with the story already please. Overall a decent story but the ending was completely predictable and partly unrealistic because life just doesn’t work that way. So we’ll move onto her newest one and hope for the best. ( )

If you're into unbelievable/unrealistic fluff, this could be for you (and that's OK). There were a couple of minor characters of interest. ( )
