Ugh. The hero left his new wife the morning after the wedding, and doesn't come back for 4 years. Strike 1, but I could live with it if the rest of the story goes well. Then he was unfaithful -- repeatedly, and without remorse -- a BIG strike two. Then he threatens her with more infidelity if she doesn't let him have her -- strike three. He didn't show any signs of being a good character after at least 100 pages, so I stopped reading it. Life's too short to read annoying books. Skipping book 2 in the series, too.
