With poems by Jane Yolsen and photographs by Joseph Stemples, this book provides an interesting contrast between the two art forms while at the same time, attempting to bring them together in one, cohesive piece. It provides a unique opportunity for students to discuss both poetry and photography; do the poems compliment the photos or do the photos compliment the poems? If a picture is worth a thousand words, are the photographs adding or subtracting from the poetic content?
This book is full of good poems about nature. it would be useful to have around for science class. it gives students a different perspective on nature. Good for a third grade or older class.
The book used both vivid poems and breathtaking pictures shows the natural beauty.
