I read Iris Johansen in the past--more recently her romantic suspense novels, so I'd forgotten she had this series which is more sci-fi/fantasy romance with a smaller amount of thriller/suspense woven in. I remember some of the characteristics of the Clanad so I'm guessing I've read something from this series previously.

Elizabeth Ramsey is a pregnant widow when her late husband's "cousin" calls on her. Elizabeth considers her Mill House home and even has a name for the final bridge--something she came up with as a child when she and her father traveled with her concert pianist mother. She calls it the "last bridge home".
The cousin, Jon, comes bearing news that the NIB is interested in Elizabeth and her child show more because of Mark. Over the course of the story, we find out why this is so and watch Elizabeth and Jon spar as well as fall in love.
It seems Andrew has some of Mark's Garvanian talents and may have been contacting his mother even while in the womb--or at least been sensitive to her mental states and moods. I am not sure if we'll get to see him grow up in the series or if we'll get to see what kind of man he becomes. show less
