Charm school is the story of Bonny, a normal girl who ends up sent to ‘Charm School’, a beauty pageant club, mostly because her mum needs her to be in some sort of childcare and it’s the only club they can find. The main story arc is, as you would expect, Bonny revitalising the tedious club, which is obsessed with looks and make up and being terrified of food. But there was a surprising, and I thought interesting, countermelody that you shouldn’t just turn up and be rude about people’s hobbies or change things without their consent.

Bonny (I had to check the name - it was a real memorable book) has to take a class at the local community centre while her mother brushes up on accounting skills. The only available class is Charm School. Charm School is full of vapid, pretty little girls who mince around and only know how to fight for the'Glistening Tiara'. Bonny is a tomboy who can't see any sense in this, manages to avoid it, and then destroy it.

According to the back cover, Anne Fine is an author who makes readers laugh. Not with this book. The set up is flimsy, the characters are flimsy, and the resolution is . . . flimsy.

I didn't like this book. The charactars are not well described and I didn't get to know them. It isn't funny.
Bonny has to go to Charm school. She finds out that all the girls are snobs. She actualy thows pizza at Araminta. She only makes friends wth Toby the teaboy. She finds out that Mrs Opeline is kind to them but she is realy taking over their lives telling them what to do,wear and eat. At the end Bonnie is Miss Sparky( she takes care of light and sound )
