The back cover said it well, "Love is a promise - for better or worse". This will prove true when a group of 8 cousins and friends from an Indiana Amish community gets into a tragic accident. Some die, some are forever changed. Loraine and Wayne are two of those in the accident, and were soon to be married. But Wayne loses part of his leg and feels he can now never marry Loraine. As much as he pushes her away (and practically into the arms of another man), Loraine fights to remain by his side and show him her love. It was a pretty hard beginning to this book, but ended with love winning out.
The title of this Amish romance should be Accidents as it's loaded with one tragic accident after another. I do not remember ever having read a book so crammed full of mishaps.

The plot is slow moving and repetitive, almost to the point of stopping--only to speed up at the satisfying end. The large cast of characters are rather flat, but since this is the first in the Indiana Cousins series, I expect them to be fleshed out in books to come. Several of the characters have problems that will drastically influence the course of their lives. Tripod is one unique character that's worth watching. I like the author's interweaving of the Plain People's jargon.

Fans of Amish specialist Brunstetter, will enjoy this one, and be interested in some show more starter for Friendship Bread. Discussion questions are included at the end as well as a recipe for Loraine's Favorite Chicken. show less
Firsr=t book in Brunstetter's Indiana Cousins series, a Christian romance novel set in the Amish community, focusing on Loraine Miller, who is torn between her fiancé Wayne, crippled in an accident, and her former love Jake, who has returned seeking a second chance.
A group of Amish young people are travelling to an amusement park for the day when the van they are riding in crashes. Some of the young people lose their lives and the lives. Those that survive will have their lives changed forever. Book 1 follows the lives of Wayne Lambright and Loraine Miller. The two had planned on being married before the accident. Loraine still wants the wedding to take place but Wayne no longer wants to marry her.

Wanda Brunstetter is my favorite author and she has written another wonderful book. I couldn't put this book down. I would recommend it to anyone who likes reading Amish fiction.

The first in the series "Indiana Cousins" and a great book as always when Wanda Brunstetter writes about the Amish.

This one starts with a group of the Amish young single people on their way to Hershey Park for a day of fun, they had hired an English driver and with no knowledge what lay ahead for them.

As a bee got in the van and Katie started trying to get someone to get it out and the driver looked back for a second and that was all it took as they swerved onto the wrong side of the road and meet a large truck. When some of them awoke they were broken up and three were killed. No one imagined how this was going to affect their young lives in the future.

As you read this book, you hurt and even cry with these young people. Some of them show more were engaged and this affected them. Will anything ever get back to normal in the Amish community in Indiana.

This book was sent to me by Barbour Publishing for my review.

A Cousin Promise is done well. I know I read this way before starting my book blog. I really did enjoy this. This book is about Loraine and Wayne. Will Loraine keep her promise? Though Wayne seem to have had accident and was left crippled.

Will Wayne see is way and hold on to his happiness? I really can not remember much it been that long ago. If I ever do re-read this book again I truly hope it as good as the first I read it. I do not see why it would not be.

I remember some of it story and plot. I know that it was written well. I did enjoy the story none the less. Will Wayne be able to get over his struggles and look to god and faith. Will Loraine be able to get over her rejection with gods help? What will happen once Loraine old show more boyfriends returns? Who will Loraine choose to love and marry? show less

I don't like saying negative things about books but this is not one I would recommend. Very predictable, one-dimensional characters and flat writing. I won't be reading anything else by Wanda Brunstetter.
