Many years ago as a side effect of something her father did Eden Fleming married a man whom she discovered wasn't really a man, but a fane, an elemental, a woodland spirit known as Lord Herne. She flees and marries another but returns to Hartsmere, her family home, after her new husband dies.
When she returns she also discovers that her son, whom she though was dead is in fact alive and joins her in her family home, along with her aunt. Herne assumes another identity and sets about trying to reclaim his son and get his revenge with Eden.
It's a fun read that uses mythology well. I enjoyed it, looking forward to more by this author.
