Fantasy. Fiction. Romance. Historical Fiction. HTML:Shana Abé has entranced countless readers with her passion-filled novels of adventure, intrigue, and romance. Now the author of The Secret Swan delivers a gift from the sea: three hauntingly beautiful tales connected by a legend, a locket, and a love beyond time.
531 a.d.: The tiny island of Kell is said to be enchanted, inhabited by an extraordinary creature who comforts shipwrecked sailors passing into the next world. Prince Aedan of the show more Isles believes in no such nonsense—until he awakens on Kell itself and meets the sensuous siren who rescued him from the sea.
1721: Ronan MacMhuirich, Earl of Kell, is the target of an unlikely assassin: Leila, a mysterious woman from an exotic land. But his irresistibly beautiful would-be slayer is in just as much danger as Ronan when she falls for this man with a magic of his own.
2004: What do you do when you inherit a Scottish island you never knew existed—and find yourself pursued by a handsome stranger who wants to buy it from you? That's what happens to Ruri Kell when she accepts Iain MacInnes's invitation to visit her birthright, and listens to a proposition as sinfully tempting as everything else about him.
Three seductive love stories, three passionate couples, all linked by one of the most romantic myths of all.

not the best Abe book, but still pretty good. It follows 3 generations of mer people, going through the love and loss of each. It's a little slow in spots, but it does pick up. A little anti-climactic at the end, but at least it gets the message across, aka, the theme..."if you love something, let it go; if it comes back, (or chooses to stay) it is yours. If not, it was never meant to be." Or...A bird can only live in captivity if you give it the freedom to fly away. All in all, a decent book, but it is unlikely I'll ever read it again. I'll be trading this book off.
First story was terribly predictable, but the second was quite the page-turner, and the third had the most well-executed, understated plot-twist, so I give the book a happy 4 stars.
Pulled this off my shelf the other night when I was out of new books to read. Once again the tales enchanted me...I got no sleep that night! Shana Abe never fails to deliver a story that captures your heart and makes you believe.
I thought this was a wonderfully fun, sexy tale that went through three generations of mer people. I couldn't put it down. Abe tells a great story.

Interesting take on the Siren myth, the first two stories were good but the third felt too short and forced.
At first I was really into this novel, but about halfway through I totally lost interest. The story was convoluted and didn't have enough going for it to keep me interested. Rather disappointing overall.

An extremely slow read.
A place out of legend, a battle for supremacy, t
he young lord finds himself trapped in a mermaid's castle.
