Description

A love as bright as the stars and enduring as stone...

Katie James is unlucky in love--so unlucky she's been reduced to kissing the marble statue in her own garden. But her luck changes when the statue warms to life in her arms--and turns out to be a hunk straight out of any woman's fantasy! Well, almost...Jorlan en Sarr hails from a distant planet and like all the other men Katie's known, he comes with a lot of baggage.

A cursed warrior with a lover's magic touch...

Entombed in his stony show more skin for centuries, Jorlan has been waiting for a maiden fair to break the spell. Yet this statuesque beauty with the will of an Amazon and kisses like flame is a far cry from the obedient damsels of Imperia. And though Jorlan is tempted to abandon all for the sake of Katie, unless he can convince her to give him her heart in two weeks' time, he'll be turned back to stone. And she'll be lost to him forever.

What a fun book! As unlikely as the premise is, the characters more than make up for it. Katie is sweet and naive, yet she's got a backbone of steel and never backs down from a challenge. She's more than a match for Jorlan, whose arrogance and domineering attitude would destroy a weaker heroine. I loved their instant chemistry and their non-stop banter. A light, breezy read, THE STONE PRINCE is a fabulous introduction to Gena Showalter's work. I'll definitely be buying more of her books!
Katie knows that no normal person would fall for a statue but somehow that is what has happened to her. What she doesn't realize is that the object of her infatuation is really a cursed Stone Prince named Jorlan awaiting a fair maiden's kiss for his release.

This book was entertaining although I found it a bit over the top in places. Katie's father and brothers and the hero all really push the limits of chauvinism. Although I know that this was done deliberately, I still found it annoying. Overall I feel the book was okay and would suggest it to people who also enjoy the sci-fi romances of Rowena Cherry.

Gena Showalter has long been one of my favorite authors, ever since I picked up the first book in her Lords series, I have been hooked on anything this women writes.

This book is no exception. The plot is amazing, with twists, turns, old fashioned malevolence, violence with a spatula, booze, sex, and some self sacrifice. It doesn't get anymore perfect. The characters are strong and vibrant, they stay with you after you have finished the story. The sensuality in this story is pretty top notch too, kept me warm through the snow storm this past Saturday ;)

I already have the next book in this series on the way to me. I can't wait to read it.

The book is pretty expensive at the moment since it is out of print, so I didn't post a link, you can show more prob get the ebook on eharlequin.com or it is due to reprint Jan 2011. show less
I went back and picked this one up in August of 2008 after reading some of her immortal warriors series. This series is a bit silly, and having her brothers be so easily accepting of this strange alien was a bit odd, but it was an enjoyable read. Not great, not earth shattering, but enjoyable.

I think it would have improved the book immensely to give the heroes a bit more depth. Both Jorlan and his brother were a too two dimensional as was the character of their mother.

A standard romance, it follows a tride and true formula.
A lonely girl, kisses a handsome statue and it turns into a flesh and Blood man. He demands that they couple and that she fall in love with him so he can get on his way. Of course there is a time limit and the ending is predictable. BUT having said that, it is well written and I did read it right through in a few hours.
Kiss a gorgeous hunky nude statue and have him all to yourself, while he tries to make you fall in love with him in 14 days to avoid becoming a statue forever. I liked it

3 out of 5 stars. I had such hopes for this book. *sigh* I mean it was good .... but around chapter 19 or so I was getting sick of Katie, who kept running away from her feelings just because she never believed what he said. I just wanted to smack her. But this book did make me laugh ... cry ... smile .... and it had a great ending!
