This is a collection of writings including genuine medieval Irish and Welsh texts by and about bards as well as a lot of early modern to modern material trying to recreate bardic teachings and teaching methods, some of these attempts are not very credible, Matthews the compiler tends to a more mystical interpretation of bards than I do.
A huge volume full of broad and deep scholarly papers on the history and practices of the Bards.
This is a great source book. It is chock full of early stories and legends. The book contains both prose and verse. It's a good reference book and fun to read straight through, also.
