On his deathbed, Baron Kralitz reveals to his son, Franz, a dark secret that has plagued their family for generations. The first Baron of the Kralitz family pursued a young woman into a nearby monastery where she sought refuge. When the monks refused to surrender her to the baron, he burned the monastery to the ground. Before they died, the monks placed a curse on the Kralitz family that affected every first born son from then on.

It is only after his father dies that Franz, the new baron of the family estate, is led to an underground cavern beneath the manor where he learns the terrifying nature of the curse.
