Most real people don't go through elaborate subterfuges like the one in this British chick lit book: Sophy made up a boyfriend Dominic to keep her parents from nagging, but OOPS, she'll need to produce him for her sister's wedding. So she hires Josh and hilarity ensues. Pleasant enough, but it never really rings true.
Not like the movie (The Wedding Date) at all, but it was an easy reading, perhaps what I didn't like about the plot was how insecure Sophy is, but I enjoyed her chaotic life and the romantic tension she has with Josh.
'It was only a little white lie--but you should never tell little white lies to your mother. As Sophy is about to discover.

Sophy's single, and happy about it. She does, however, have an imaginary boyfriend - Dominic - whose sole purpose is to keep Sophy's mother off her back. Which is fine, until Dominic's presence is demanded at a family wedding. What should Sophy do? Admit he was a fantasy? Pretend they broke up? Invent a sudden but tragic death? Oh no. Sophy hires an escort. But when the distinctly delicious Josh Carmichael arrives on her doorstep ready to step into Dominic's expensively tailored shoes, Sophy can tell things are going to get tricky. And the wedding is only the beginning.

A funny, cute story. This Brit chick-lit was even more heavily peppered with Brit slang than most, and actually left me guessing a time or two, and in some spots this detracted from the flow of the story. But it was nicely done, even though some of the characters bear slapping a time or two.

This is a very charming, fun chick lit romp. It's a funny story of crossed signals, good intentions, and witty romantic farce. No heavy reading here, but it's well done and I'd recommend it highly.
A fresh and hilarious book. Not particularly intellectual, but chick lit is made for fun, isn't it?
Light silly fun. The movie The Wedding Date staring Dermot Mulroney (so hot!) and Debra Messing, which I loved, it based on this book. It's convoluted and sometimes cute. Great for a plane ride or an escape from reality. Not necessarily a keeper, the movie was miles better.
