A professional robbery goes wrong.

It's been something like a decade since the last time I saw this. I was concerned that it wouldn't seem as good to me now as it did to my younger self (as is the case with most "cool" movies that I liked back then), but in fact I like it a lot more now. You have to appreciate that of the million crime/gangster/heist movies, there are only a handful that are anywhere near as well done and entertaining as this. I might even like this better than Pulp Fiction (although it's been equally long since I've seen that one, so it's hard to say).

Storywise it has been done a thousand times. A heist gone wrong. But the gimmick is, you never SEE the heist. This works brilliantly. You see this gang of people who do not know each other talk about the heist beforehand. You see the aftermath of the heist. You see the descriptions of the heist between this band of criminals not exactly matching up. And all of the scenes are mixed up chronologically. Where it shines is the crazy dialogue that happens between these hooligans. Their banter is ludicrous, villainous, and totally engaging. It's like Agatha Christie meets Nelson Rodrigues.

Tarantino's debut directing job as impressive as of its premiere. Now it acknowledges the sloppiness and silences that are typically squeezed out of most crime films. Now it is considered one of the 100 best films ever. Come on... It is now vintage - boorish, tasteless, boring, repetitious, tedious & moronic. Everything Quentin's loving audiences deserve.
