Bunny Bunny: Gilda Radner: A Sort of Love Story
by Alan Zweibel

Description
In a series of funny, tender, and touching dialogues, former Saturday Night Live writer Zweibel recalls his buddy-and-almost-lover friendship with SNL actress Gilda Radner, who died of ovarian cancer. Zweibel claims he "merely scribbled the dialogues playing in my head" and, indeed, these recreated conversations have a neurotic, sarcastic, and vulnerable air of authenticity. The actress and writer become fast friends on the SNL set and segue into personal revelation.Tags

OK, so it might be a little trite and some of the staging is a little student-theater precious. But it's so damned heartfelt and sentimental that it's impossible to dislike. This is basically just a love note to a friend who left too soon, and it beats any phony baloney tribute I can imagine.
2021 reread: It's been more than a decade since I've read this, I think, and it's just as dear and sweet as when I first read it 24 years ago. I'm older than Alan and Gilder were when they met, and from this perspective, you can better understand how young and lost they were and why they were never meant to be together. I'm super excited for his new book.
Such a wonderful book, it's seems to capture all the quirks and triumphs of true friends.
A sweet story about a friendship and a remarkable woman who was taken to soon
A very entertaining and quick read. Good for anyone who is a fan of the old SNL shows with Gilda Radner. Just gives you even more insight into this interesting woman.
