This is exactly what the title says it is. It is a biographical guide. You are not going to get a complete biography of every Roman Emperor from 31BC to 476AD in less than 400 pages. You will, however, get a very good guide to all of them. Recommended for anybody interested in the Roman Empire.
Needed to read only 1 part of this book, on 1 emperor. The authro is quite knowledgeable on the Emperors.Impressive and detailed.
The book is well researched and the history of Roman Emperors is detailed very well here. I find the readability a bit tedious, no fault of the author. Rather it is the fault of the subjects he is writing about who are for the most part people I have no desire to learn more about, given the moral and ethical turpitude of that civilization. It is truly inexplicable to me that they could have survived as long as they did, given the degenerate and debased character of their leadership.
